10 Practical Gifts for Breastfeeding Moms
1. Good Quality Nursing Bras
Just be honest, it's difficult to find a comfortable yet supportive nursing bra. I myself have been wearing nursing bras which did not really fit me well. (but well, I didn't know other choices back then, so I just wore what I had).
Only recently, I came across Bravado Design Seamless Body Silk Nursing Bras. Initially, I was skeptical at first. But once I tried buying one, I am so pleased with this bra.
This has been my daily bra for the past few months. It is super comfortable for my growing boobs and yet feels supportive. There's no underwire that would make you uncomfortable and it comes with removable foam inserts.
I haven't used it for nursing though, but I can see that it will be my go-to nursing bras in the few months to come. The full drop away cup design would be very handy for maximum skin to skin contact plus the early breastfeeding days in which you would want to expose your full breast to learn breastfeeding properly.
PS: I had those nursing bras which only reveals nipple and part of breast (which made me frustrated because it covers too much to get a proper latch).
Trust me, any breastfeeding moms would thank you for this Bravado nursing bra as a gift. Just don't forget to do a proper sizing for her =). With 3000+ raving reviews, you can't be wrong by choosing Bravado Seamless Body Silk nursing bra.
Additionally, this bra would be handy if she plans to pump later on. Because it can be paired nicely with Bravado Clip and Pump Accessories.

2. Nursing tops or dresses
While a breastfeeding mom can always lift up her shirt to nurse her baby, investing in several good nursing tops or dress would be handy especially when she needs to nurse her baby while going out.
Nowadays, there are a lot of beautiful and chic nursing attires that give access to breast discreetly.
For good quality nursing outfits, I recommend browsing around Figure 8 Maternity collection. They are not only practical, but make any moms look beautiful and pretty.
3. Breastfeeding e-books or e-course
As you know, getting enough information is crucial for anyone planning to breastfeed (and possibly pumping breast milk for the baby).
While there are a lot of free resources in the internet, it would be nice to have a trusted, go-to resource that you can always refer to. If your friend prefers readings, breastfeeding e-books would be a great gift for her.
Otherwise, if she prefer a video-based resource, a breastfeeding e-course would be a very great tool to prepare her for breastfeeding and pumping.
This is because videos can show you more details (such as how to do a proper latch, troubleshooting breastfeeding problems, or how to pump effectively) that text-based books simply can not compete.
Lactation Link confident breastfeeding e-course bundle would be a great option if your breastfeeding mom friend would eventually pump or return to work later. Or else, breastfeeding basic e-course would be a just nice option for her.
4. Nursing pillow
No one says that nursing pillow is compulsory. But in the early days, when a breastfeeding mom is still finding her best position to nurse her baby, having a nursing pillow is priceless. It helps to support the baby while she focuses on latching baby to the breast.
At the later stage, some nursing pillows can be super handy for playing during baby's tummy time.
Among so many brands out there, Boppy nursing pillow is a great choice for its simplicity, super-affordable price, and it has washable slip covers so that you can easily clean it if needed.
5. Nipple butter.
I still remember the bloody milk that I pumped for my first baby. My nipple was so sore, yet I need to keep latching and pumping to increase my supply. Super painful and horrendous.
Little did I know that I should have applied a nipple cream to protect my nipple, especially before the mature milk comes in.
Earth Mama Angel Baby Nipple Butter is a perfect gift because it contains only organic and natural ingredients and totally safe if it is ingested by the baby. It has been Amazon best seller with more than 2000 reviews!
6. Breastfeeding-Friendly Baby carrier.
As your breastfeeding friend masters the basic technique of nursing, now it’s time to help her getting things done while still providing nourishment for her baby.
If you have breastfed before, you know how time consuming it is, and you won’t have a lot of time left to do other things.
Thankfully, by using a breastfeeding-friendly baby carrier, a mom can still nurse her baby while multitasking to do chores or attending the needs of elder children.
For newborn phase, I recommend getting a ring sling, while for older babies, soft-structured carrier such as Ergo would be a good fit.
Trust me, once you master nursing in a baby carrier, you won’t look back. You don’t need to be strapped on your room or sofa to feed your baby. You can walk around and do other things. This will certainly makes a great gift for any breastfeeding moms.
7. Meal subscription box.
Who does not want some helping hands in the early months of breastfeeding, when your days seem revolving around nursing, burping, and changing diapers. On the other hand, most moms still need to fix a meal for her self (or the entire family).
This is where meal subscription boxes come very handy.

You can choose to have ready-to-eat meals delivered right to a mom’s door step, or well-measured ingredients for easy dinner preparation. The best thing is the menu can be customized to fit specific dietary requirements.
If you don’t know any meal subscription boxes to begin with, Plated would be a good start to explore.
8. Haakaa silicone breast pump.
Whether she is staying at home or returning to work eventually, any breastfeeding moms would appreciate having Haaka Silicone Breast Pump as a gift. It collects milk effortlessly while nursing, perfect for creating a mini stash for emergency need.
The fact that Haakaa is just one piece (no little parts to worry about) and has no motors means that it is very simple to use and does not have very steep learning curve like other breast pump models.
9. 4 in 1 nursing scarf.
Nursing scarf is great for nursing on the go. To be honest, I never had a need to use a nursing room to breastfeed, because I have a nursing cover with me all the time. I can nurse my baby while eating, out, walking down in the zoo, or buying groceries.
There are a lot of nursing covers out there, but this 4 in 1 nursing scarf is very handy.
It can be used for multiple things: nursing cover, pretty scarf (when not in use, so it does not add more bulk to the diaper bag), car seat cover, and more. Lots of different functionalities in just one product!
10. Oat Mama lactation tea.
- While I fully understand that every breastfeeding mom responds differently to any nursing tea, Oat Mama tea is different.
- It actually tastes very nice and refreshing (unlike others which have strong herbal scents).
I hope this gift guide can help you to choose the best practical gifts for breastfeeding moms.
