Psst... let me confess something..
I gave up carrying ladies handbags since I had children.
All my old handbags are too small to hold all the baby necessities, plus my personal items.
Carrying two separate bags is simply impractical in my opinion, especially when you are out alone with your kids and need to chase them.
So, my choice came down to two: a big diaper bag (I had one with cartoon prints, lol), and after the birth of baby #2, a backpack.
In fact, when I returned to work, here's what I brought every single day: one backpack to carry my
Very far for stylish, don't you think so? Not feminine at all...
Ehm.. Well, honestly, I didn't really care the look back then, as long as they serve my purpose. However, I definitely hate having to lug more than one bag every single day.
Fast forward to now when I recently came across Sarah Wells Lizzy breast pump bag.
Oooh... How I wish I knew about this bag much earlier...
I believe this would be a perfect bag for me to carry to work.
It is not only stylish on the outside. But also, very spacious to hold all your stuff, with many compartments so that you can organize your items neatly.
But hey, it's NOT only for working moms. On your off days, you can turn it into a perfect diaper bag. You'll see it in the pictures later on (scroll down if you want to see it now).
Are you curious whether Sarah Wells Lizzy breast pump bag would be your perfect bag? Let's take a closer look now in this detailed review.

Now, let's have a few different cases on how you can use your Lizzy.
1. A pump bag to tote to your workplace
Here are the close-up look of the two side pockets.
I use the bigger pocket to store my breast pump + tubings and the smaller one to hold breast milk bottles, 2 pairs of breast shields, plus the ice pack.
Notice that both side pockets has a photo pouch so you can keep your baby's picture there.
The big side pocket fits my recent hospital-grade pump, Gaksimil G1 (Note: I purposely chose this breast pump as a model because this is the biggest and longest pump that I have -surely it will fit smaller breast pumps without any problem).
Note: if you use Medela Symphony, sadly Lizzy's side pocket is too small for that. Here's Sarah Wells pump bag that will fit your Medela Symphony (it's a backpack model and equally cute >> scroll down to see the comparison).
Let's continue... This is how the outer pocket looks like.
You can put small items such as hand sanitizer, tissue, or your key here, or even a bigger thing such as an umbrella.
Onto the main compartment...
Here I keep my lunch bag, purse, and work documents. I don't need to bring laptop every single day at work, but if need be (say, to do presentations and such), this bag still have enough room to spare.
Here's how the main compartment looks like after stuffing the side pockets with the breast pump and the accessories. Note the gaps in both sides of the middle bump, creating a perfect space for laptop and documents.
Now, adding the lunch bag, documents, laptop and personal stuff...
My laptop is a 13.5-inch Toshiba, but I've heard that a 15-inch laptop will fit the bag as well.
And, finally zippered up. With this boat of loads, I could only use the full-size bag (i.e. with unsnapped sides).

PS: I'll show you how it looks being worn at the very end of this post.
Now, let's talk about different possibility to use this pretty bag.
2. A diaper bag
You can use the side pockets to hold your kids' water bottle and snacks. Since they are separated from the main compartment, it is easier to clean up should there be any spill.
The bigger pocket fits two water bottles, and the smaller one is perfect for snacks.
Ehm..., in fact, this is what I actually
And in the main compartment: extra clothes + diaper inside the yellow bag, my book / worksheets, wet wipes, purse, and an umbrella.
And finally, zippered up with the sides snapped.
3. Other ways to use your Lizzy
Other than as a
- A pump bag for an exclusive pumping mom. Yeah, you don't even need to be a working mom to have Lizzy. If you are exclusively pumping for your baby, this bag is a lifesaver for you. Talk about lugging your pump everywhere and still need to bring other stuff. Simply bring the Lizzy and its roomy compartment will save you the need of bringing extra bags.
- A pure work bag. After you wean your baby (and your pump), you can still use Lizzy to your workplace. You can use the side pockets to carry your lunch box, or if you prefer a roomier main compartment, simply flush down the pockets' inner lining), and BAM... more room in the main compartment (see the picture below).
- A camera bag. I found this idea while browsing my Pinterest feed, and immediately thought, "yeah, why not?" Rather than investing a camera bag, you can use Lizzy's side pockets to store your camera away from your personal items. Check the picture here.

Wearing your Lizzy bag
You can wear
Initially, I was worried that this bag will look too big for a petite lady like me (I'm just 4' 11" btw). To my surprise, it's not. Look!
Personally, I prefer the look of it worn with the cross-body strap. Also, I don't need to worry if the straps would slip

Things I LOVE about Sarah Wells Lizzy bag
- A lot of compartments to keep things organized. Though the main feature of this bag would be the two side pockets to store your breast pump and pumping parts, I love how the things you stored in the side pockets creates a center 'hump' in the main compartment so that you can slide in your laptop and documents easily. Not to mention the main compartment itself still has a zippered compartment and two small pockets (great for tissue, breast pads, or purse). And also, don't forget there's one outer pocket at front.
- It fits a lot of things. Really, before seeing the real bag, I thought this bag won't be so big. I was wrong. Even my husband agreed that this bag is huge. As I have shown you in the pictures above, I was able to throw in whatever I used to bring in my backpack and tote bag inside the Lizzy, plus laptop. Whoa... This is amazing especially if you are tired carrying multiple bags per day, risking to forgot any of them.
- Pretty. Although I'm not into fashion, I'm excited to wear this bag because I can feel feminine once again (after 5 years of carrying a backpack or an obvious diaper bag).
- Two sizes. The fact that this bag can be worn in two sizes will surely extend its usage because it is so flexible. If I need to carry more things, unsnap the sides and make it taller. If I am carrying less, I'll just put the snap in. This bag adjusts to your need as a mom.
Things that can be improved
- Since the original purpose of this bag is to carry a breast pump, plus all the other pumping accessories, I wish the shoulder strap to be wider or padded so that the weight of the bag can be more evenly distributed. Well, admit it, lugging breast pump can be heavy, right. It should not be a problem if you are just carrying it from your house to car, then car to office. But if you would consider a case where you commutes by train (you are standing because no seats left, hey it's peak hour, the train is jam-packed), then you can feel that it starts digging into your shoulder. Of course, here I'm talking about carrying a big breast pump like Spectra S1 or S2.
Actually, there's a backpack model of Sarah Wells pump bag (I mentioned it before above). I was contemplating between the two before deciding to purchase Lizzy. If you prefer the backpack because it would better distribute the weight, check it out here.
- The zipper does not glide very smoothly. Not a big deal actually. But when you take into account that every minute counts when it comes to a pumping break at work, this can be annoying for some moms. I hope Sarah Wells will address this issue soon.
- The side pocket can only keep the milk cold for 6 hours (with icepack). Well, if you want to extend to cooling ability up to 12 hours, I suggest you to use Fridge to Go cooler bag.
You can still bring your Fridge-to-Go inside your Sarah Wells Lizzy bag. Here's how you can do it:
- Put your bottles + breast shields into the Fridge to Go cooler bag
- Now, since you are not going to use one of the side
pocket , flatten the unused side pocket, and you can insert your Fridge to Go cooler into the main compartment, right at where the side pocket hump should be. So, yes, you'll still carry a single Lizzy bag (see the picture below).
PS: If you are using Medela cooler bag, you CAN put your Medela bag inside the side pocket. Yes, it will fit. Look at the picture here.
Is it worth the price?
Let me tell you. When I first heard about this bag, I thought, 'what a crazily expensive bag for just a pump bag.'
But then, I was sold on its functionality and decided to buy it.
Until recently, I told my sister about my new Sarah Wells Lizzy bag. Mind you, she is a seamstress who specializes in making handbags and purses.
I showed her how the bag looks like, the compartments, the design, the lining, and you know what. She was surprised knowing that this bag costs less than US$100.
Here's what she told me, 'If I were the one who made this bag, I would charge a lot more than that.'
Now, thinking about it again, she knew what she was saying. She knew how much effort needed to make this kind of bag, the materials, and so on.
So ladies, given the functionalities, the design, and all, this bag could cost easily more than $100. But it is now retailing at only $99 at Amazon. Yes, it's worth the price.

What other moms are saying...
In general, Sarah Wells Lizzy breast pump bag receives an impressively positive review. In Amazon alone, it receives 200+ reviews and 4.5 rating out of 5!
I called it my 'Marry Poppins' bag because I can get most everything short of the kitchen sink in it. I used to carry no less than THREE bags with me to work. Once I got my Sarah Wells bag, I was able to condense those bags into one!
Sarah Wells has really thought of everything. The attention to details and needs of moms truly shows in her design. This is a great bag for travelling with a pump or as a diaper bag as well.
This post is just one review from one mom. There are a lot more moms expressing their satisfaction with Sarah Wells Lizzy bag.

Sarah Wells Breast Pump Bag: Annie vs Lizzy
Sarah Wells Annie and Lizzy bags are somewhat similar. The one thing that really distinguish them is the material (Annie is made from faux leather, while Lizzy is performance nylon).
Also, Annie has a solid color (hence, looks more elegant), while Lizzy has full prints.
Other than that, Annie's size is a little bit smaller (if you put in a laptop inside), you won't be able to zip it up.
That being said, Annie is somewhat much pricier than Lizzy.
The table below summarizes the comparison between them:
Sarah Wells "Annie"
- Single size: 14"x7"x14"
- Faux leather
- Solid color (black or brown)
- Two thermal side pockets
- Shoulder straps and cross-body straps
Sarah Wells "Lizzy"

- Two sizes: 15"x7"x13" (snapped down), 15"x7"x17" (unsnapped)
- Performance nylon
- Full print (navy or gray)
- Two thermal side pockets
- Shoulder straps and cross-body straps
Sarah Wells Breast Pump Bag: Kelly vs Lizzy
Sarah Wells Kelly breast pump bag is another model of Sarah Wells bag.
Unlike Lizzy, it is a backpack model (hence, no cross-body straps), slightly smaller in terms of size, and only has one thermal side pocket, while the other side has one big water bottle pouch.
The good thing about Kelly is its side pocket fits Medela Symphony hospital-grade breast pump (and I believe this is the only breast pump bag that fits this pump model, cmiiw).
Additionally, there's a dedicated laptop sleeve inside Kelly (great if you bring laptop every single day), but then you may not be able to put your lunch box inside (if you are already stuffing it with breast pump, pump accessories, cooler, and laptop).
For more detail comparison, please see the table below.
Sarah Wells "Kelly"
- Single size: 15"x7"x12"
- Performance nylon
- Chevron print (one color: black)
- One thermal side pocket + water bottle pouch
- Shoulder straps and back-pack straps
- Has laptop sleeve
- Side pocket fits Medela Symphony
- 3 outer pockets (in front), 1 back pocket
Sarah Wells "Lizzy"
- Two sizes: 15"x7"x13" (snapped down), 15"x7"x17" (unsnapped)
- Performance nylon
- Full print (navy or gray)
- Two thermal side pockets
- Shoulder straps and cross-body straps
- No laptop sleeve
- Side pocket does not fit Medela Symphony
- one outer pocket, 1 inner zip pocket, 2 small inner pouches
Final Conclusion
All in all, I feel that Sarah Wells Lizzy breast pump bag is a perfect companion for a pumping mom, whether you are working or not.
